Pioneering advances in safety, United Steel was the first steel company in the region, and still the only one, to hire a full-time safety director. Mike Colt, our Safety Director, has more than a quarter century experience in safety and health, 12 of which as an OSHA compliance officer. Since 1999, he has helped to improved the effectiveness of our safety efforts and provided a direct contact for immediate safety concerns.

Mike's in-house expertise in safety has allowed United Steel to develop effective safety and health programs, workers compensation management, and immediate access to an individual who answer questions. In addition, Mike has a number of outstanding credentials in the area of training. Therefore we provide our own in house training programs in OSHA 30-hour construction and first aid in CPR.
